The Texas Department of Transportation remains busy on the Interstate 35 expansion project, opening one new ramp near while keeping a key entrance ramp closed nearer to downtown.
Elsewhere, TxDOT is briefly closing a freeway closure in west Bexar County, and San Antonio Public Works is overseeing street upgrades in two neighborhoods on the North and South sides.
Here are some notable road works happening in San Antonio:
East Side
As part of the Interstate 35 expansion program, the Texas Department of Transportation will open the newly built southbound Loop 410 frontage road overpass ramp over Farm Road 78/Old Sequin Road on June 5.
Motorists on the southbound 410 frontage road will get to use the new overpass ramp to bypass FM 78/Old Seguin Road.
Additionally, work crews are closing the northbound I-35 exit ramp at Splashtown Drive from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. daily now through June 8.
Motorists here should continue on northbound I-35, then use the next exit ramp at Binz-Engleman Road to access the northbound I-35 frontage road.
Construction crews are keeping the northbound I-35 entrance ramp at North New Braunfels Avenue closed now through 5 a.m. June 12.
They are also closing the northbound I-35 exit ramp at Brooke Army Medical Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 10.
South Side
The city of San Antonio is launching a project June 15 to improve South Zarzamora Street from West Southcross Boulevard to West Mayfield Boulevard.
City representatives said the month-long project will primarily include removal of the deteriorating road surface, and application of a new layer of asphalt.
North Side
San Antonio is rehabilitating portions of Barbet and Future drives in the Dellview neighborhood just east of Balcones Heights.
According to city representatives, Barbet between Wayside and Beryl Drives, and Future between Dewhurst and Panda drives are both currently closed now through mid-July.
As part of the Loop 1604 expansion project, workers are closing eastbound Interstate 10 at Loop 1604 in San Antonio from 1 a.m. June 6 until 5 a.m. June 8. Both directions of Loop 1604 will remain open.
Additionally, the Loop 1604 project includes the opening of a eastbound I-10 entrance ramp after Camp Bullis Road, and the closure of the eastbound I-10 entrance and exit ramps after La Cantera Parkway.
Far West Side
Project workers are closing a segment of the Loop 1604/U.S. 90 interchange from 9 a.m. June 6 until 5 a.m. June 8 to allow crews to finish work related to the construction of a new flyover ramp.
Specifically, the southbound Loop 1604 flyover ramp to eastbound U.S. 90 will be closed over the weekend. Traffic will continue on the mainlanes to the U.S. 90 intersection and use the frontage road to enter eastbound mainlanes of 90.
Project workers are also closing the westbound U.S. 90 frontage road exit to Hunt Lane for two weeks, starting June 8. Access to the westbound U.S. 90 frontage road from Hunt Lane remains open
Traffic will continue on the westbound frontage road, turnaround at Loop 1604, travel on the eastbound frontage road and turn right on Ray Ellison Boulevard to access Hunt Lane. These closures are part of the ongoing effort to expand to improve the federal highway westward through Texas 211.
