Methodist Hospital Northeast in Live Oak is now home to a facility where physicians specialize in cardiovascular care.

Officials and physicians from Methodist Healthcare and city leaders gathered May 20 to mark the grand opening of the Methodist Heart and Lung Institute Northeast Specialty Center.
The specialty center actually began accepting patients May 19 and had seen 14 patients prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a press release.
The Methodist Heart and Lung Institute Northeast Specialty Center is designed to serve a rising number of area individuals who are coping with heart failure or need other cardiovascular services.
Live Oak and neighboring communities such as Cibolo, Schertz and Converse continue to experience population growth, which Methodist Healthcare officials called another driving force behind the launch of this specialty center. Until now, heart failure patients have had to travel to facilities across the San Antonio area for treatment.

Methodist Hospital Northeast CEO Jerrica George said Methodist Healthcare tries to meet the expanding array of healthcare needs of a rapidly growing area.
“This center reflects our ongoing commitment to provide access to high-quality, specialized care close to home,” George said in a statement. “Too often, patients delay or miss important care because of travel barriers. By bringing advanced cardiovascular services directly into this community, we can improve continuity of care, support better long-term outcomes, and help patients stay healthier and out of the hospital.”
