A western Bexar County fire department has now fully replaced a smaller facility with a larger, state-of-the-art station.
Officials with Bexar County Emergency Services District No. 2, based in the middle of the growing Alamo Ranch neighborhood, announced Sept. 23 that a newer, bigger version of Fire Station 125 is fully operational at 5919 Roft Road.
Created by area voters in 2003, Bexar County ESD No. 2 serves neighborhoods located roughly between Loop 1604, Culebra Road, U.S. 90 and the Medina County line.
Officials with ESD No. 2, also known as Bexar County 2 Fire Department, originally opened Fire Station 125 in 2020, but took advantage of an opportunity to expand that complex.
The $7.5 million project yielded a 17,760-square-foot fire station that contains sleeping rooms, offices, kitchen, dining, dayroom, training room, apparatus bays, and support services. ESD No. 2 has four other fire stations.
Personnel at Fire Station 125 will host a grand opening and Halloween celebration 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 31 at the new facility.
Area residents are invited to the event, which will include building tours, a chance to meet staff, and trick-or-treating. Refreshments will be available.
