Leaders in Bulverde and Fair Oaks Ranch are lauding the progress recently made in major infrastructure projects in their respective communities.
A wider Texas 46 in Bulverde
Officials with the city of Bulverde and the Bulverde-Spring Branch Area Chamber of Commerce were joined by counterparts from the Texas Department of Transportation on Aug. 31 to mark the end of the Texas 46 expansion project.
The project, where planning started in 2015, has resulted in the widening of Texas 46 in central Comal County from a two-lane highway into a six-lane divided corridor with raised medians, dedicated turn lanes, bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The improvements were made between Bulverde Road to Farm Road 3159/Smithson Valley Road.
Local leaders and TxDOT officials said these upgrades will help accommodate rising traffic demands, and improve safety and mobility for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians alike.
TxDOT is urging motorists to give themselves time to adjust to the new roadway configuration.
Water system, road upgrades coming in Fair Oaks Ranch
Fair Oaks Ranch City Council voted on two measures designed to advance key roadway and water system improvements.
Council authorized the issuance of $7 million in certificates of obligation to build a ground water storage tank, a water storage tower, and to support continued enhancements to the town’s wastewater treatment plant.
Council also approved the issuance of $6 million in general obligation bonds to fund the completion of the reconstruction of Dietz Elkhorn Road, the reconstruction of Amman Road, and a design for the rebuilding of Rolling Acres Trail.
According to Fair Oaks Ranch officials, the $5.56 million Dietz Elkhorn Road project is getting underway in September with work lasting one year between Fair Oaks Parkway and Farm Road 3351.
The initiative will include drainage improvements, utility and driveway adjustments, and installation of a new 12-inch water main beneath the north shoulder.
