Filing begins for May 2 San Antonio-area city council, school board elections

Eligible residents in 18 cities and nine public education districts across the San Antonio area have through Feb. 13 to file for a city council or school board seat that will be on the May 2 local election ballot.

The May 2 election filing period started Jan. 14 in the following cities and school districts, which are listed below alongside their respective current office-holder:

CITIES

Alamo Heights

Place 3 (incumbent Blake Bonner), Place 4 (incumbent Lynda Billa Burke), Place 5 (incumbent Trey Jacobson). These seats have two-year terms.

Balcones Heights

Mayor (incumbent Johnny Rodriguez), Place 1 (incumbent Jack Burton), Place 2 (incumbent David Sellars). These posts have two-year terms.

Boerne

District 1 (incumbent Ty Wolosin), District 3 (incumbent Kyle Mickelsen). These posts carry two-year terms.

Castle Hills

Place 1 (incumbent Jason Smith), Place 4 (incumbent Jack Joyce), Place 5 (incumbent Beth Daines). These seats have two-year terms.

Garden Ridge

Place 1 (incumbent Kelly Smith), Place 4 (incumbent Todd Arvidson), Place 5 (incumbent Brian Reyes). These council seats have two-year terms.

Grey Forest

Mayor (incumbent Paul Garro), Place 2 (incumbent Tim Santy), Place 4 (incumbent Michael Phillips). These seats have two-year terms.

Helotes

Place 1 (incumbent Craig Sanders), Place 2 (incumbent Jen Sones), Place 4 (incumbent Sabrina McGowan). These seats have two-year terms.

Hollywood Park

Mayor (incumbent Chester Drash), Place 2 (incumbent Todd Kounse, Place 4 (incumbent Wendy Gonzalez). These seats have two-year terms.

Hill Country Village

Mayor (incumbent Gabriel Durand-Hollis), Place 2 (incumbent Matthew Acock), Place 4 (incumbent Greg Blasko). These seats carry two-year terms.

Kirby

Seats held by Sylvia Apodaca, Mike Grant and Englan Sanchez. The council voted Jan. 8 to designate Grant’s post as vacant because he had missed at least three council meetings. These seats have two-year terms.

Leon Valley 

Mayor (incumbent Chris Riley), Place 2 (incumbent Betty Heyl), Place 4 (incumbent Rey Orozco). These seats carry two-year terms.

Live Oak

Mayor (incumbent Mary Dennis), Place 2 (incumbent Robert Tullgren), Place 4 (incumbent Ed Cimics). These council seats have two-year terms.

New Braunfels 

Mayor (incumbent Neal Linnartz), District 5 (incumbent Mary Ann Labowski), District 6 (incumbent April Ryan). These council seats have two-year terms.

Olmos Park

Mayor (incumbent Erin Harrison), Place 4 (incumbent Kenyon McDonald), Place 5 (incumbent Will Brooks). These seats have two-year terms.

Selma

Mayor (incumbent Tom Daly), Place 2 (incumbent Noah Washington Jr.), Place 3 (incumbent Becky Harris). These seats have two-year terms.

Shavano Park

At-large council seats held by Konrad Kuykendall, Maggi Kautz and Lee Powers. Voters will be asked to pick three candidates for three seats. These posts carry two-year terms.

Terrell Hills

Mayor (incumbent John Low), Place 1 (incumbent Bill Mitchell), Place 2 (incumbent Kate Lanfear). These seats have two-year terms.

Universal City 

Mayor (incumbent Tom Maxwell); at-large seats held by Lori Putt, Bernard Rubal and Phil Vaughn. Voters will be asked to choose candidates for three council posts. These seats have two-year terms.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Alamo Heights Independent School District

Place 3 (incumbent Ty Edwards), Place 4 (incumbent Hunter Kingman). These board seats have three-year terms.

Boerne ISD 

Place 6 (incumbent Kristi Schmidt), Place 7 (incumbent Rich Sena). These seats have three-year terms.

Comal ISD

District 3 (incumbent Jason York), District 4 (incumbent Russ Garner). These board seats have three-year terms.

East Central ISD

District 1 (incumbent Ginger Friesenhahn), District 2 (incumbent Monique Presas), District 5 (incumbent James Mulkey), District 7 (incumbent Dell Braziel). These board seats have four-year terms.

Edgewood ISD

Place 1 (incumbent James Hernandez), Place 2 (incumbent Frank Espinosa), Place 3 (incumbent Richard Santoyo), Place 2 (incumbent Michael Valdez). These council seats have two-year terms.

New Braunfels ISD

District 2 (incumbent Nancy York), District 4 (incumbent John Tucker). These board seats have three-year terms.

North East ISD

District 2 (incumbent Tracie Shelton), District 3 (incumbent Diane Sciba Villarreal), District 7 (incumbent Marsha Landry). These board seats have four-year terms.

Southwest Independent School District

School board seats held by Jose Diaz and James Gonzalez. These board seats have three-year terms.

Alamo Colleges District

District 4 (incumbent Lorena “Lorraine” Pulido), District 8 (incumbent Clint Kingsbery), District 9 (incumbent Leslie Sachanowicz). These board seats carry six-year terms.

Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District 

Precinct 3 (incumbent Steven Peterson), Precinct 4 (incumbent Joe Silman), Precinct 5 (incumbent Katrina Waring Castillo). This special district covers northern Bexar County.
