Early voting began Dec. 1 for runoff elections for two Cibolo City Council seats.
What you should know
Voters taking part in the Dec. 13 runoff election will determine the outcome of contests for the Place 3 and Place 7 at-large council positions.
Marissa-Ellen Patterson and Maria Fishback were the two top vote-getters in a four-way race for Place 3 on Nov. 4. Incumbent Robert Mahoney opted against a re-election bid for that post.
Neither Patterson nor Fishback collected 50% in the Nov. 4 elections, meaning because no candidate got a plurality of votes, the two top vote-getters advanced to a runoff election.
Patterson is a U.S. Defense Department operations research analyst who has made smart, sustainable growth, improving infrastructure and road safety, and strengthening community engagement her key campaign themes.
Fishback is a contracts manager and scheduling coordinator for San Antonio-based firm Lake Flato Architects. She also serves with Cibolo’s planning and zoning commission.
Fishback has indicated smart, economic growth, improving infrastructure and public safety, and fiscal responsibility as her main campaign issues.
Summer Marie Brown and Shari McDaniel were the top two vote-getters in the Place 7 contest. A U.S. Army veteran, Brown works as a current human resources professional, and constantly volunteers for various area events and programs. Brown lost the 2023 mayoral runoff election to Mark Allen, who opted against a mayoral re-election bid this year.
McDaniel has worked in marketing and sales, and most recently served with the city’s parks and recreation commission, zoning board of adjustment, and charter review commission.
Brown has been campaigning on issues such as smart growth, and maintaining quality parks, community services, infrastructure and public safety.
McDaniel has said her main issues include smart growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing public safety and infrastructure.
