Motorists are now able to access newly installed ramps on Loop 1604 in north San Antonio.
The opening of the new ramps comes during a weekend of major road closures around town.
What you should know
The Texas Department of Transportation on Nov. 15 opened two flyover ramps – eastbound Interstate 10 to eastbound Loop 1604 and eastbound I-10 to westbound 1604.
According to TxDOT representatives, drivers on the eastbound I-10 frontage road can now enter the eastbound I-10 mainlanes via the entrance ramp after La Cantera Parkway.
Drivers enter the new flyover ramp and follow signs to either eastbound or westbound Loop 1604.
Drivers on the new flyover ramps can merge onto the previously opened flyover ramps connecting I-10 with Loop 1604.
The new flyover ramps are part of TxDOT’s ongoing Loop 1604 expansion and improvement project, which includes a full reconfiguration of the I-10/Loop 1604 interchange.
Also of note
While the new North Side I-10/1604 ramps are open, TxDOT closed some other major local routes because of the Loop 1604 project and ongoing work on the Interstate 35 expansion.
*Westbound Loop 1604 is closed at I-10 through 5 a.m. Nov. 10. Eastbound Loop 1604 is closed overnight only.
*The southbound I-35 connector ramp to southbound Loop 410 South and the southbound I-35 frontage road entrance ramp to southbound 410 south both are closed for bridge work from 6 a.m. Nov. 15 through 9 p.m. Nov. 16.
*Northbound Interstate 37 is closed at Loop 410 in southeast Bexar County for bridge repairs from 9 p.m. Nov. 14 until 5 a.m. Nov. 17. Westbound Loop 410 will also be closed. Traffic is being diverted through Southeast Military Drive.
