Texas voters will head to the polls March 3 as state Democrats and Republicans determine which candidates of theirs they would like to see advance to the Nov. 3 general midterm elections.

Locally, GOP and Democratic primary voters will consider several contested races for San Antonio-area Congressional and state legislative posts as well as key seats in Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe and Kendall counties.

Election Day polling locations in Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe and Kendall counties will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

According to the Texas Secretary of State, more than 18.6 million Texans are registered to vote in the March 3 primaries.

More than 12% of Texan voters cast a ballot during the February early voting period, with nearly 53% of voters statewide taking part in Democratic Party primaries, state data showed.

Bexar County elections officials said more than 183,200 voters took advantage of early voting with 123,000-plus voters participating in the Democratic primary.

This year’s early voting turnout in Bexar County crossed 14% – significantly higher than local early voting turnout rates in the 2018 and 2022 party primaries.

Voters may cast a ballot in any countywide polling location, and must show a form of state-issued identification.
