The menu will feature steak, pasta, salads, wood-grilled artichokes, and appetizers, such as smoked trout dip, tuna tartare, and ancho glazed pork belly.

Entrees will include beef short ribs, chicken schnitzel, miso honey salmon, and The Mayor’s Cheeseburger, which contains two patties, American cheese, house pickles, caramelized onions, bearnaise aioli, and fries.

OId City Hall will serve up a range of martinis and signature cocktails, such as a bleu cheese martini, and Texas Linen, featuring Still Austin bourbon, St. Germain, lime, simple, and sparkling water.

Wiggins Hospitality partner Turner Wiggins described the restoration project as “a labor of love.”

New downtown hotel unveils culinary program

The Monarch San Antonio, the newest luxury hotel in downtown San Antonio, is due to open March 3, but company officials have already provided a glimpse into what guests and visitors can expect in the way of food and beverage offerings there.

Executive Chef Jae H. Lee will oversee all food and beverage operations across the property’s three dining destinations: Oak & Amber, Aleteo, and The Nectarie Café, according to a press release. Lee has spent more than 20 years in the culinary/hospitality industry, including stints in recent years at Austin Proper Hotel, and The Joule Hotel in Dallas.

According to the release, the prevailing culinary philosophy at The Monarch will highlight premium meats and seafood, and market-driven sourcing with a French influence. Company representatives said the three venues will transition from morning to night, offering experiences that reflect the hotel’s style and the energy of activities occurring downtown.

“Each restaurant has its own identity, but they’re connected by a shared foundation,” Lee said in a statement. “Technique, consistency, and respect for the fundamentals and the ingredients are what allow creativity to happen. This program is about creating places people want to return to—whether they’re staying at the hotel or living down the street.”
