Methodist Healthcare is beginning construction on a three-story, 100,000-square-foot tower at
Methodist Hospital | Northeast.
Officials from Methodist Healthcare were joined by Live Oak Mayor Mary Dennis and State Sen. José Menéndez in a Jan. 20 ground-breaking ceremony, lauding the development of a new, $146 million patient bed tower.
According to a press release, the new tower will add 14 critical care beds and 64 medical-surgical beds at Methodist Hospital | Northeast. The expansion also features larger support spaces, such as a modernized kitchen and a bigger dining area. Additionally, all current dual-occupancy rooms will be eliminated from the facility.
Methodist Healthcare officials said the new tower will help the Live Oak hospital staff to better meet the medical needs of a growing suburban area northeast of San Antonio.
“As this area grows, so do the needs of the families who live and work here – and we have made a commitment to grow right alongside them,” Jerrica George, CEO of Methodist Hospital | Northeast, said in a statement.
“Through expanded services, new specialties, and now this latest expansion, we are ensuring that high-quality care keeps pace with the momentum of our community.”
Construction of the new patient bed tower is estimated for completion in late summer 2027.
