A Nov. 20 event was held at Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak to highlight a major milestone in the ongoing $104 million expansion project.
What is happening
Officials with Methodist Healthcare and the construction contractor gathered with counterparts and staff at Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak where a steel-topping ceremony was held and a beam was placed at the highest point of the expansion area.
The $65 million expansion project involves a two-story addition, which will add 54 new beds, including intensive care unit (ICU) and medical-surgical rooms, while growing critical support areas, according to a press release. Overall, 84,000 square feet of new space is being added to the hospital.
The project also features a comprehensive kitchen renovation to enhance food service for patients and visitors, the release stated. The expansion project is slated for completion in early 2027.
What they are saying
Speakers at the Nov. 20 ceremony said the expansion of Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak will help the facility’s staff to keep pace with growth in the far North Side.
“This milestone is more than a construction achievement; it’s an investment in the future of healthcare for San Antonio,” hospital CEO Michael Beaver said in a statement. “Expanded capacity will allow us to deliver advanced care and adapt to the evolving needs of our patients for years to come.”
