San Antonio airport announces direct service to Toronto

Starting May 1, San Antonio International Airport will be able to fly passengers nonstop to Toronto.

What you should know

According to a Sept. 22 press release, Air Canada will begin nonstop service between San Antonio’s airport to Toronto Pearson International Airport in Ontario. 

This will be the San Antonio airport’s 10th international destination and the only one in Canada, according to a Sept. 22 press release.Air Canada will operate the service three times a week on its A220 aircraft.

The release stated that the San Antonio airport’s service to Toronto will be timed to offer travelers access beyond Air Canada’s hub to destinations that include London, Montreal, Barcelona and Madrid.

The city’s aviation department has been working to increase the number of nonstop flight options from San Antonio, including the additions of Phoenix, and Morelia and San Luis Potosi, Mexico, as nonstop destinations.

“With this new nonstop connection, we look forward to continuing to foster relationships between our two communities and throughout Canada,” City Manager Erik Walsh said in the release. “We would like to thank Air Canada for today’s announcement and their investment in our growing region.”
