Officials with the North East Independent School District will have informational meetings before early voting starts on the district’s proposed $495 million bond.
What you should know
Oct. 6 is the deadline for eligible NEISD residents to register to vote in the Nov. 4 bond election. Early voting will be available Oct. 20-31.
The five individual bond proposals, if approved by voters, would support building repairs, improvements and security upgrades at existing campuses and district facilities, as well as new school buses. District officials are proposing more than 270 projects through the five-proposition bond.
According to NEISD leaders, an approved bond will not produce an increase in the school district’s tax rate even though state law mandates that a district holding a bond election use the words “this is a property tax increase” in ballot language.
