Far west San Antonio is now home to the city’s newest cardiovascular imaging center.
What you should know
Methodist Healthcare opened the doors to the imaging center at Methodist Hospital | Westover Hills in early October.
According to a press release, the new facility is designed to enhance access to advanced cardiovascular care on the burgeoning far West Side with the following services:
*Cardiac PET/CT for advanced heart metabolism and blood flow assessment;
*Electrocardiograms (EKG/ECG);
*Exercise treadmill stress testing;
*Nuclear cardiology imaging (myocardial perfusion imaging);
*Stress echocardiography (exercise and pharmacologic);
*Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)

Megan Cool Amalakuhan, CEO of Methodist Hospital | Westover Hills, said the new imaging center puts her hospital at the forefront of advanced cardiovascular services on the Northwest Side.
“From early detection to tailored treatment plans, our patients can receive comprehensive cardiac care in one convenient location. Our team of experts is committed to providing our neighboring communities with exceptional healthcare,” Amalakuhan said in a statement.
Dr. Ghassan Abusaid, medical director of cardiovascular services at Methodist Hospital | Westover Hills, said the new imaging center can help to serve patients at risk for developing heart disease.
“Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S. and when it comes to cardiac care, early detection is essential,” Abusaid said in a statement. “This center delivers precision care using advanced technology allowing us to provide lifesaving diagnostics and treatments.
