A local company has started construction work on its first residential development, which will be located in south San Antonio.
What is happening
Gilley Properties International, a part of Gilley International Group, announced on Nov. 11 that it is constructing Villaret Commons, at 1519 W. Villaret Blvd., near Palo Alto College and Kazen Middle School.
According to a news release, Villaret Commons will feature 80 multi-family units, 19 duplex lots, 42 single-family lots, a dog park, a playground and a barbecue area. A site plan can be provided upon request, and the home lots are currently available for sale.
Gilley Properties worked with Palo Alto College President Robert Garza to come up with names for the streets in Villaret Commons, including Professora Road and Estudiante Road. Another street, Mendoza Road, is named after the family that created the development company.
What they are saying
Gilley Mendoza, Gilley International’s real estate team leader, said the new residential community project is a labor of love as he is establishing a development in his native South Side neighborhood. He graduated from Palo Alto College and Texas A&M University San Antonio.
“It’s my way of bringing talent I’ve honed over my real estate career to the South Side with the hope that it continues to bloom as a vibrant and prosperous community,” Mendoza said in a statement.
Gilley and Denisse Mendoza, company realtor, said Villaret Commons is their first of many investments in the South Side.
“We’ve been intentional about bringing to life our first residential development right here in south San Antonio, and that feels very special. Our vision is that this will be the first of several developments on the South Side,” the Mendozas stated.
