Eligible Converse residents interested in joining the City Council have until 5 p.m. March 9 to apply for a vacant council position.

Sylvia Meyer, who had been elected to Place 4 council seat in 2022 and re-elected in 2024, recently departed her council post.

Whomever is appointed to replace Meyer will fill the remainder of her term through the rest of 2026. The Place 4 position is scheduled to be on the Nov. 3 general election ballot alongside council Place 2 and Place 6.

The city has provided an online application form, which can be filled out by interested, eligible Converse residents who: are at least 18 years old, have lived inside Converse city limits the past 12 months, are registered to vote, and who are not in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liabilities to the city.

Completed application forms are due to the city secretary’s office at City Hall, 406 S. Seguin Road, or emailed to slee@conversetx.gov by 5 p.m. March 9.

Those applicants who are fully qualified will be interviewed by council members March 17 and chosen for appointment at the end of that meeting.
