Schertz city officials and Schertz Fire Department staff gathered Feb. 5 to ceremonially mark the launch of construction of a fourth fire station.

Schertz Fire Station No. 4 will be located at 17355 Wiederstein Road. San Antonio-based Marksmen General Contractors is overseeing development of a 16,000-square-foot, $8.8 million facility, where construction is estimated for completion in spring 2027.

Martinez Architects, a firm that has had years of experience designing several fire stations and other public safety complexes in communities across Texas, is designing Schertz’s fourth fire station.

Development of Fire Station No. 4 is funded within a larger, nearly $20 million series of general obligation bonds that City Council approved for issuance in September 2022.

City officials said the new fire station is situated in the Forest Ridge Park area, in the northern portion of Schertz, where the city continues to experience more residential and commercial growth.
