City leaders gathered Feb. 3 for the ground-breaking ceremony on San Antonio Animal Care Services’ veterinary hospital.
According to local officials, the 17,000-square-foot facility will be nearly six times larger than SAACS’ current 3,000-square-foot clinic, allowing staff to provide more critical pet care.
Development of the new veterinary hospital at the SAACS campus, on the city’s West Side, is funded within a $17 million allocation in the city’s voter-approved 2022. Construction is projected for completion in late 2027.
“This project is funded by the city of San Antonio 2022 bond program, and will be a critical investment in the health, safety, and well-being of animals that come into our care,” SAACS representatives said in a statement.
